 ty.net/sessionPop.cfm?confid=126&proposalid=10228\n<p>As the data world con
tinues to evolve and expand, the reference architectures needed to support
and&nbsp;manage our data need to evolve as well.&nbsp; These architectures
need to support multiple use cases and&nbsp;provide various data-related ca
pabilities across the organization.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>This means focusing more
 on items&nbsp;like &#39;data&nbsp;as a service&#39; and abstracting away ph
ysical constraints.&nbsp; This approach is generally&nbsp;being referred to
these days as the Logical Data Architecture or LDA for short.</p>\n<p>This
session will&nbsp;cover our attempt to define and implement a Logical Data
Architecture for our organization.&nbsp; Topics&nbsp;of discussion include
 :</p>\n\n
Identifying the opportunities (why change the current architecture)\n
Baking the concept into the Data Strategy (to help get buy-in)\n
Describing the Logical Data Architecture (zones and functionality)\n
Laying out the Logical Data Architecture (iteratively that fits our needs)\
 n
Communicating the architecture approach (for understanding and progress)\n
Current status (where are we at today)\n\n<p>We started our journey last ye
ar, so if you get the chance, come by and see how we are doing!</p>\n
