ty.net/sessionPop.cfm?confid=126&proposalid=10247\n
The role of a central
catalog of business terms, defining the core language of the business was
often seen as a luxury in many DW deployments. One reason was because the d
ata model schemas used often provided sufficient information around the met
adata of the DW. However, for the data lake such a precise layer of busines
s semantics is critical as a foundation for the governance of the multitude
of different data stores - with and without schemas - and processes that p
otentially will make up a data lake.
\n
This session will descri
be the main characteristics, components and approaches to building and main
taining such a catalog and how it integrates with the data lake. This sessi
on will also include best practices and use cases based on a number of spec
ific customer engagements focused on the building of a data lake glossary.
This session will specifically cover:
\n\n
The components, characteristics of a catalog \n
The approaches to building and maintaining the business terms in a catalog&
nbsp;\n	How the catalog is used to govern the data lake assets \n
How the catalog is used to support self service BI and other business user
activities \n
The increasing role of AI/ML in delivering further levels of automation and
 efficiency to this catalog \n
How the catalog can leverage graph technology and ontologies.\n\n
