Seattle Public Utilit ies (SPU) provides Drinking Water, Wastewater, Drainage and Solid Waste Ser vices to more than 1.4 million residents and businesses. With a $973 million annual operating budget and 1,400 staff, we use 150 different data collecting applications to track everything from customer phone calls, to w ater quality testing, the location and functioning of utility infrastructur e, and spending.
\nWe operate according to Asset Management principle s and are formally implementing a Data Management program, with a Governanc e Council and Data Stewards to address data issues such as risk, privacy, a ccuracy, and usefulness.
\nMy presentation will discuss the synergy b etween Data Governance and Data Stewardship to improve the efficiency and r eliability of data systems to ensure Stewardship activities:
