age is all about ‘Augmented Analytics,’ which is the combinatio
n of machine learning and natural language processing in data and analytics
. I love it! but... For me this is not enough and to be truly disrupt
ive in analytics we need ‘Autonomous Analytics.’ Much like we a
re experimenting with Autonomous Vehicles, our data and analytics communiti
es need to start considering letting go of the wheel and allowing full auto
mation of their analytics. Humanity takes breaks, only looks for what
it wants to look for, gets sick, and grows tired. Autonomous Analytics hav
e none of these qualities. Organizations that take on this new paradigm wil
l run their industries!
\n
Autonomous Analytics take things
a bit further than Augmented Analytics. The future is a vast configuration
of active--almost aware--algorithms that are constantly looking for trends,
outliers, and opportunities. Consider the business intelligence (BI) of th
e future to be almost sentient or human like.
\n
My P
redictions for where “Autonomous Analytics” are heading: <
/p>\n\n
\n

From Passive to Active: By 2030 BI will transform from a
passive tool where humans seek out information to one where information se
eks out its consumer through highly advanced bots, what I call ‘Activ
e Seek.’
\n	\n\n\n
\n

Converged Analytics: The Need to Know Why and What Will Happen
: Converged analytics (seamlessly combining traditional BI with predi
ctive analytics?) will take us beyond ‘what happened’ and seaml
essly answer ‘why something happened’, and ‘predict what
could happen next.’
\n	\n\n\n
\n

Cooperation Leads to Operationalization: Lastly these bo
ts will cooperate with one another, forming a vast network of things, &lsqu
o;Connected Bots’ that control actions of other bots or perhaps even
you. Think of a vast network of bots cooperating almost biologically
in a phagocytosis sort of way! Just like your white blood cells attac
k bacteria bots will attack problems.
\n
\n\n
Come and hang out and listen to John Thuma, a 30 year vete
ran of analytics. You will leave with ideas to discuss about the futu
re of analytics or be scared to death about the potential creepy future.</p
